Held each November and open to the public, the Jefferson Ball is our signature event which showcases the use of social dance in early America.
Enjoy light refreshments and two sessions of live music with dances presented in the grand style of yesteryear.
Formal attire is requested: Colonial or Regency attire reflect the origins of this dance tradition, but suits or tuxedos for men and evening gowns for ladies are also welcomed. New dancers should attend class for several months to learn the dances beforehand. Pre-registration is required.
Please see the flyer below for a dance list and registration form. Detailed dance instructions are available to download as a pdf file and print. If you learn better by watching see the playlist of videos of the dances. There will be a ball review on the day of the ball from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the ball venue.
Practicing or studying the dances before the ball will leave you relaxed and ready to enjoy our excellent music and the dancers in your set. You may take a look at the dances on our YouTube Playlist. You can download the instructions as a PDF file, and will be given these instructions in a booklet at the ball. We will be learning the dances at our Wednesday night practices at Belmont Recreation Center (the ball venue). A final review of dances will be offered a few hours before the ball, please feel free to request any dances that you find particularly challenging.
